A Word from the Author

April 15th, 2007 by Mr. Danger

I know that you have probable come to this post to read humor, but today I am going to drop out of character and just talk about stuff that I think is important. Almost as if this were a Blog or something.

The first thing I want to do is to thank everyone for their encouragement and support for the whole Danger Couch project. (Long may it Rave!) Although my original intention has always been to perform, I am discovering more and more the value and necessity of community. (And the exhaustion of a one-sided effort.*)

Here at Danger Couch I have had been blessed with creative and supportive partners like Dan and Stephen, and a growing list of New Blood like Dianne and Bryan. It has been very rewarding to work with everyone: the actors in the film, and the guest musicians at the show, and even the people at Starbuck’s who have provided fuel to postpone the exhaustion of those exciting, yet highly draining, events.

I suppose at this point it would be good to mention that this is not a farewell speech.

I am not quitting, we are not breaking up, no one is dying. (But feel free to spread rumors if you think it will get us some publicity.) No, the Couch is going strong. Just last night as Danger Dan and I were working on the DVD he told me at least fifty times just how strong the Couch was going, until I finally took the hint and went home to shower.

We are hammering out what I hope are the almost-final detail of the DVD, and are already planning this season’s episodes and Big Christmas Show-Thing. It has taken us longer than anyone every imagined to knock these things out, but I believe that it will also be better than anyone ever imagined, once it’s all done.

The point here, is that although I was focused on performance when we started this whole thing, it is the people that I have encountered, both face to face and across the net, that I have come to cherish. The DC community is an unsought treasure that I have been given. One that I deeply appreciate.

Stick around. The best is still to come.

About DangerCouch!

Tales of D.C.'s origin are as varied as the individuals who fabricate them. For many years the Industrial Accident theory dominated public opinion, but recently the Alien Brain Exchange theory has risen in prominence with the ever-present Government Conspiracy theory waiting for its moment in the sun.

The couchmen remain an enduring mystery as obscure to themselves as to their throngs of adoring fans.
